Introduction

A Gallup poll shows that Americans are especially concerned about global warming and climate change in their lives . We also hear from the Environmental Voter concerns about our future.

What will we do when:

  • Temperatures get so hot that we cannot live in our homes or on the streets.
  • Sea level rise inundates cities along the coast, forcing billions of people to leave their homes.
  • We cannot grow crops due to the severity and number of droughts and the poor quality of our soils.
  • Rain forests are gone, which will affect our breathing and the cooling of the planet.
  • Flooding takes our homes and washes away valuable farmland into nearby waters.
  • Wildfires burn our forests and cities, followed by, in some regions, mudslides and more flooding occur.
  • Coral reefs are bleached, and they can no longer photosynthesize or create homes for marine animals.
  • When the oceans warm and become more acidic from the incorporation of carbon dioxide.
  • The Arctic, Antarctic, and permafrost are ice-free, causing additional warming and land changes.
  • Heat waves affect billions of people who will have little, if any, protection from extreme temperatures.
  • There is habitat loss so great that wildlife, along with people, will be left stranded.

If we know these things are happening and that they will get worse, why would we not want to address these issues before they reach their “tipping point” or point of no return? Advocating for Climate Realism is not an option. What we need instead is climate restoration. Our only hope is for us ALL to do what we can to make things better rather than worse. This includes ALL of us making good, but loud noise and nicely telling our legislators that we need to work together and fix what needs to be fixed NOW. We know the answer is, again, climate restoration, and we should not believe those people who are self-centered or self-absorbed and possibly just wish to reap in more money and power, and not look out for the well-being of others. We need to roll up our sleeves and advocate for nature-proven solutions that will bring back balance to our world.

What Can You Do?

We first need to look inward, as Dr. Jane Goodall says that you can make a difference, but you need to determine what that difference is for you. You have so many little things you can do to help our Mother Earth. One of those things is to advocate for climate restoration practices that we’ve learned from the past. In the meantime to this very important step:

  • please consider using reusable bags at grocery stores, and for goodness' sake, please drink from glass and not plastic. As for traveling, maybe take a vacation closer to home, but definitely fly less and drive more. Walk when you can, and if you can bicycle, please do so.

  • You can also plant many more trees and landscape your lawn rather than mow grass. Mulch leaves so they can be incorporated into your lawn, and use rain barrels to hold rainwater for irrigation. Use renewable energy, and buy hybrid or electric vehicles. Buy local goods and plant vegetable gardens.

  • If you have a basement, live there in the summer, and in winter, live on the first floor. Insulate your home and windows well. Do everything you can to use less energy and choose products that will save you money.

  • Invest in drinking clean water without impurities by using filters and having your water tested. Be conscientious in your purchase of plastic clothing goods, and use more natural fibers.

  • Think and obey practices that you will take as routine choices that will not only help yourself and your family but also the community and the nation. Do not waste anything, and reuse as much as possible. Also, try to encourage and support companies that recycle waste.

  • Lastly, care for and love others who may not have as much as you do. They too have every right to live in a world not cluttered with waste in the air, water, and on land. Help promote clean environments that do not have chemical waste affecting our world.

Please understand that where we are today in climate change and global warming is serious -and it requires our government and people to respond with a willingness to change our ways of living to one that is more nature-driven and cleaner.
